Kampung Bako, Black and White
We began our journey to Bako National Park at the village of Kampung Bako where we boarded a boat for a 30 minute ride to the national park on the Muara Tebas Peninsula. There are no roads into this place of swamp and mangrove forests. Most people visit just for the day, but we were fortunate to stay for two nights. The accommodations were most definitely sub-par, but the wildlife and empty beaches in the dawn and dusk hours were definitely worth a few bedbugs, lack of clean facilities, and macaques wreaking havoc on our porches.
